This stunning residence is a modern villa that embodies the concept of "Artistic Orientalism," offering a captivating contemporary interpretation of Eastern spirit within an urban environment. The design emphasizes materiality and proportion, seamlessly integrating elements of Chinese cultural vocabulary with the refined Confucian aesthetics of restraint and negative space.

The exterior of the building captivates with its intricate interwoven pattern of red and terracotta bricks, which not only creates a striking textured façade but also enhances the interplay of light and shadow throughout the day. The substantial brick walls impart a sense of weight and stability, while the glass elements inject a refreshing lightness and transparency, allowing the outdoors to blend seamlessly with the interior environment. Transitioning to the interior, the "Pine Valley" cultural space presents a stunning visual experience with its Panda White stone walls that evoke the essence of ink splashes. In the "Mountain Stream" pool area, the walls are coated with textured paint that mimics the flowing forms of water, while the Panda White stone at the pool's base outlines elegant patterns that enhance this aquatic theme. The antique bronze spiral staircase emerges as a striking design feature, its understated luster beautifully reflecting the sophistication of Eastern aesthetics. As it gracefully ascends, its sinuous lines create a rhythmic and sculptural form that captivates the eye. Upon entering “Maple Grove under the Moonlight,” one will be immediately drawn into an open-plan kitchen that masterfully intertwines Eastern and Western design elements. This harmonious space connects seamlessly with the living room, resulting in an expansive layout that invites relaxation and social interaction. The leisure area is anchored by light-colored stone, complemented by accents of Zishan (Purple Landscape) stone. This combination evokes the poetic charm of traditional landscape paintings, drawing the eye and inspiring reflection.

This project balances environmental responsibility with cultural depth, extensively incorporating natural stone and solid wood for their durability and reduced environmental impact. The design also reflects a commitment to cultural sustainability, reinterpreting Eastern aesthetics and the collective memory of Shanghai through a contemporary lens—pioneering a new paradigm that embodies both sustainability and heritage.
