The Medina of Tunis—one of the oldest and most culturally vibrant medinas in North Africa—is at risk. Once filled with majestic homes and communal courtyards, it now faces rapid physical degradation, with over 1,000 structures in danger of collapse. Beneath its tiled rooftops lie generations of stories, yet today, many of these rooftops shelter precarious lives in buildings labeled uninhabitable.

This project proposes a rooftop-based urban design strategy that addresses structural risk, housing injustice, and social fragmentation. By activating the overlooked space above the Medina, this proposal aims to stabilize buildings, connect communities, and restore a shared sense of dignity to residents living within ancestral ruins.
